The Royal Palace is a pleasant 10-minute stroll, and you’re right in the thick of Oslo’s shopping and dining scene. What I love is that despite being so central, the street itself isn’t crazy busy or noisy at night.

My room had that clean, minimalist Norwegian design aesthetic — think warm woods, neutral tones, and smart use of space. The bed was seriously comfortable (which matters when you’re dealing with jet lag), and the bathroom was modern with a great shower. Actually, the room felt bigger than I expected for a city center location, and the blackout curtains were a godsend during those bright Nordic summer nights. The Wi-Fi was solid throughout my stay, and there were plenty of outlets for charging devices.
