Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo Overview

First Impressions

Walking into the Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo, you immediately get that “this is a proper hotel” feeling — you know what I mean? The lobby has this sleek Scandinavian vibe without being cold or sterile, and honestly, the staff actually seem happy to see you. It’s a four-star property that doesn’t try too hard to impress, which I find refreshing after staying at places that are all flash and no substance. The attention to detail throughout the public spaces reflects a commitment to understated elegance that appeals to discerning travelers.

Location & Getting Around

The location is honestly fantastic — I mean, couples rate it 9.3 out of 10, and after spending a few days here, I totally get why. You’re right in the heart of Oslo on Sonja Henies Plass, which puts you within walking distance of pretty much everything that matters. The Royal Palace is a pleasant stroll away, and you can easily walk to Aker Brygge for dinner or shopping. What’s really nice is that there’s parking right at the hotel — and trust me, finding parking in central Oslo can be a nightmare, so this is actually a big deal. The convenient access to public transportation makes exploring the city effortless for guests without vehicles.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a solid four-star — clean, comfortable, and thoughtfully designed with those minimalist touches that Scandinavian hotels do so well. The bed was properly comfortable (not too soft, not too firm), and the bathroom had good water pressure, which matters more than people think. The windows are well-insulated too, so even though you’re in the city center, it’s surprisingly quiet at night. Modern amenities blend seamlessly with the room’s serene aesthetic, creating an ideal retreat after a day of sightseeing.

Breakfast & Dining

Now, the breakfast situation here is actually impressive — they’ve got everything from continental to full English, plus vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options. I appreciated that they offer breakfast to go if you’re rushing off to catch a train or flight. There’s also a restaurant on-site, though honestly, with Oslo’s incredible food scene right outside your door, you might want to explore the neighborhood instead. The hotel staff are great at recommending local spots that aren’t just tourist traps. The culinary offerings cater to diverse preferences and dietary requirements with genuine care.

Why Guests Love It

What really struck me is how many repeat guests this place has — way more than most hotels I’ve stayed at. After a few days, I understood why. It’s not trying to be the flashiest place in town, but everything just works smoothly. The location means you can walk to most attractions, the service is genuinely helpful without being overbearing, and there’s something reassuring about staying somewhere that clearly knows what it’s doing. For couples especially, this seems to hit that sweet spot of being romantic without being cheesy, central without being chaotic. The hotel’s consistent quality and reliability make it an excellent choice for both leisure and business travelers seeking a dependable base in Norway’s capital.

Reviews of Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, Oslo

  • Arunga from Kenya (9/10)

Very beautifuly designed and next to train station

  • English from United Kingdom (9/10)

Very convenient location for major sites and train station. Views were spectacular from our room on the 32nd floor.
Only downside was the noise from above (literally hear high heels walking across the floor until the early hours). Also refurbishment was ongoing but we were warned of this at check-in. Having.said that I would happily endure a little noise in exchange for the view.

  • Petra from Switzerland (9/10)

Great location! Incredibly spacious room, comfortable bed, late checkin. It was a great choice considering our late arrival to Oslo. I would stay here again!

  • Matilda from Norway (8/10)

Generally a very nice stay! The room we got was very nice and clean, comfortably large with a nice view. The elevator was obnoxiously fast which I think was great. 10/10 amusement for the brand of idiot I am. Very pleasant staff, the breakfast was neat, and I had an overal good time; especially after I found the ice machine in the hallway that was used many times during my stay to keep my poorly blended late-night drinks cool. Water pressure was okay, even if the shower itself was a mystery puzzle to turn on, and the towel heater was grand. Screen sharing to the TV was functional and easy, information was easy to find when I managed to forget when breakfast was, and the little shower gel thing smelled nice.
