Scandic Solli Overview
First Impressions
Walking into Scandic Solli, you immediately get that feeling of being somewhere that knows what it’s doing. This four-star property sits right in the heart of Frogner, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The lobby has that clean Scandinavian aesthetic — not stark, just refreshingly uncluttered. You know what I mean? It’s the kind of place where everything feels intentional without being fussy.
The Frogner Advantage
Here’s the thing about staying in Frogner — you’re basically in Oslo’s most desirable neighborhood without the tourist chaos. I mean, couples consistently rate this location 8.8 out of 10, and after spending time here, I totally get why. You can walk to Vigeland Park in about ten minutes, which is perfect for morning runs or lazy afternoon strolls. The Royal Palace is practically next door, and the shopping along Karl Johans gate is close enough that you don’t need to plan your whole day around it. Plus, there’s this great little bakery just around the corner that locals actually go to — not some tourist trap.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from Scandic — functional, comfortable, and surprisingly spacious for Oslo standards. The bed was properly firm (thank goodness), and the blackout curtains actually work, which matters more than you’d think during those bright summer nights. What I really appreciated was the workspace setup — if you need to catch up on emails or actually get some work done, you won’t be hunched over a tiny desk. The bathroom was clean and modern, though nothing particularly fancy. It’s the kind of space where everything just works without any surprises.
Morning Fuel
The breakfast buffet here is — well, it’s Scandic, so you know it’s going to be solid. They’ve got all the Norwegian classics: fresh bread, quality cheeses, smoked salmon that doesn’t taste like it’s been sitting around forever. The coffee is actually good, which isn’t always a given at hotel breakfasts. I found myself lingering over breakfast most mornings, partly because the dining area has these big windows that let in tons of natural light. It’s a nice way to ease into the day before heading out to explore the city.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Scandic Solli isn’t trying to be the flashiest hotel in Oslo, and that’s exactly why it works so well. The staff genuinely seems to care about making your stay smooth — they’ll give you actual local recommendations, not just hand you a tourist brochure. The location means you can walk to most of what you want to see, but you’re also on a quiet residential street where you can actually get some sleep. For the price point in this neighborhood, you’re getting solid value without any unpleasant surprises. It’s the kind of place you’d book again without hesitation.
Locals advise to book apartments in Oslo around Grünerløkka for indie cafés, street art walks, and riverside picnic spots.

Location – close to the center, nice area for walks, delicious breakfast 🥞
We ended up in this hotel due to not the most pleasant set of circumstances. And we definitely had a nice experience. Thanks to the Scandic team, we really enjoyed our short stay at this hotel.

Prehistory:
Due to unexpected reasons – the host of another booked in advance prepaid accommodation didn't host us and didn't answer the phone calls and messages, so we found ourselves without accommodation in the late evening of Saturday after travelling the whole day from another country. After several calls to the Booking com support, we were told to book another accommodation with the compensation. The prices were really expensive at that moment and there weren't a lot of available options to book. So we decided to choose the closest available option to the previous one.Andrei from Denmark (8/10)
