You know what’s brilliant about Tjuvholmen? It’s this relatively new district that most tourists haven’t discovered yet, but locals absolutely love it. The hotel sits on Landgangen, which is basically a peninsula jutting into the Oslo fjord — I’ve stayed in a lot of waterfront hotels, but this location actually delivers on those water views. The Astrup Fearnley Museum is literally next door (perfect for art lovers), and you’re a pleasant 10-minute walk to Aker Brygge’s restaurants and bars. Couples seem to get this location immediately — there’s something romantic about being surrounded by water while still being connected to the city.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had floor-to-ceiling windows that made the fjord feel like part of the interior design. What impressed me most, though, were the beds — and I’m someone who usually struggles to sleep well in hotels. The mattresses here are genuinely exceptional, which explains why guests keep raving about the sleep quality. The design maintains that Nordic aesthetic without being stark — there’s warmth in the wood accents and textiles that makes you want to linger rather than just crash for the night.

Dining & Amenities

Breakfast here is actually worth waking up for, which I can’t say about most hotel buffets. They’ve got this extensive spread that covers everything from traditional Norwegian fare to continental options, plus they’re surprisingly good with dietary restrictions — proper vegan and gluten-free selections that don’t feel like afterthoughts. The restaurant Thief Foodbar has this relaxed vibe despite the upscale setting, and their focus on local ingredients really shows. There’s parking available too, which might not sound exciting but trust me, if you’re driving in Oslo, you’ll appreciate having a guaranteed spot.

  Very much recommended this stunning hotel by the port in Oslo. Very well presented modern hotel. The rooms are spacious and relaxing. On site restaurants and bars are worth visiting. The breakfast buffet is extensive with loads of gluten free options, special mention for the gluten free granola.
