Tjuvholmen II, As Home Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Tjuvholmen II, As Home feels more like arriving at a friend’s stylish apartment than checking into a hotel. This three-star property sits right on Lille Stranden in the upscale Frogner district, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. The building has that understated Norwegian elegance — clean lines, lots of glass, and you can actually smell the sea air from the entrance. It’s the kind of place where you immediately feel like you’re staying somewhere locals would choose, not just another tourist trap.

The Tjuvholmen Advantage

You know what’s brilliant about staying here? You’re literally in Oslo‘s most coveted waterfront neighborhood, where million-dollar apartments line the harbor and the Astrup Fearnley Museum is just a short stroll away. I mean, Tjuvholmen used to be this industrial peninsula, and now it’s become the city’s answer to Manhattan’s High Line area — all modern architecture and harborside promenades. The apartment-style accommodations give you that authentic Oslo living experience, complete with floor-to-ceiling windows that frame views of the Oslofjord. During summer evenings, you’ll see locals jogging past your window along the waterfront path, and there’s something really satisfying about being part of that scene rather than watching it from some generic hotel district.

Living Like a Local

Each room here feels thoughtfully designed rather than cookie-cutter corporate. The spaces are generous by Oslo standards — which, let’s be honest, is saying something in a city where square footage costs a fortune. Most units come with a proper kitchen setup, not just a mini-fridge and coffee maker, so you can actually shop at the nearby Rema 1000 and cook breakfast while watching the morning ferry traffic. The furnishings lean Scandinavian modern without being cold or sterile, and the beds are surprisingly comfortable. What really impressed me was the attention to practical details — good lighting for reading, plenty of outlets, and blackout curtains that actually work during those endless summer nights.

Neighborhood Perks

The beauty of this location is that you’re walking distance from both the trendy Aker Brygge dining scene and the more authentic Frogner residential area. There’s a fantastic restaurant called Lofoten Fiskerestaurant just five minutes away if you want proper Norwegian seafood, or you can grab coffee and pastries from the little bakery on Munkedamsveien. Parking can be tricky around here — this is central Oslo, after all — but the property does offer options, and honestly, you probably won’t need a car much once you’re settled in. The tram connections are excellent, and walking to Karl Johans gate takes maybe 15 minutes through some of the city’s prettiest neighborhoods.

Why Guests Love It

That 9.7 rating isn’t just numbers — it reflects what happens when you combine an unbeatable location with genuine hospitality and smart design. Couples particularly seem to fall for this place, and I get why. There’s something romantic about having your own little Oslo pied-à-terre steps from the water, especially during those magical white nights when the sun barely sets. You’re not just visiting Oslo; you’re living in one of its most desirable neighborhoods, even if it’s just for a few days. The staff treats you like a neighbor rather than a guest number, and that makes all the difference when you’re trying to feel at home in a new city.

  • Natalya from United States (10/10)

In the middle of a new lively area with tons of restaurants and shops. Right next to the water. The place is immaculate!!! The washer dryer combo was great. They provided shampoo and conditioner and body wash. Not a standard as we found out with other places. Awesome coffee machine and plenty of coffee. Again, not a standard. The place is well stocked and organized. We really appreciate that!!! Lovely balcony. Large TV in the bedroom and living room with access to several streaming platforms. We would come back in the heartbeat!!!

  • Andrew from United Kingdom (10/10)

Well equipped apartment in the trendy pedestrianised Aker Brygge area. Lots of restaurants around, and close to ferry transport to Oslo fjord islands.

  • Eric from New Zealand (10/10)

Perfect location, lots of restaurants and shops around. Easy walk to museums and the museum ferry. Spacious, elegant and well equipped. Little balcony you can sit out on to have breakfast, with a little bit of a view.

We were met by Tatiana and shown around the very central apartment. It was clean and comfortable.
