When I first walked into Wright Apartments – Sørenga, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from an apartment hotel — but this place completely changed my mind about extended-stay accommodations. The lobby has this clean, Scandinavian aesthetic that feels more like a boutique hotel than temporary housing. You know what really struck me? The staff actually remembered my name after the first day, which is pretty rare for a four-star property. The attention to detail in every corner of the building immediately impressed me.

You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Opera House, but without the crowds and tourist traps. I spent mornings jogging along Sørengkaia (the waterfront promenade right outside), and evenings watching locals fish off the pier. The area feels like where actual Oslo residents live, not just where they take visitors. This authentic neighborhood charm is something you simply cannot find in more touristy districts.

My room was more like a proper studio apartment — and I mean that in the best way possible. The kitchen wasn’t just some sad mini-fridge situation; it had a full-size stove, decent counter space, and actual cookware that didn’t look like it came from a gas station. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually has good water pressure. There’s something satisfying about having your own space to spread out, especially after a long day of sightseeing. The thoughtful design makes extended stays feel genuinely comfortable.

Practical Perks

Let me tell you about the parking situation — because if you’re driving in Oslo, you’ll appreciate this. They have on-site spots available, which saves you from the nightmare of street parking in the city center. I also loved having a washing machine in the unit; after a week of travel, being able to do laundry without hunting down a laundromat was honestly a relief. The Wi-Fi actually works well too, which matters if you’re trying to plan day trips or stay connected with home. These practical amenities truly enhance the overall experience.

You get daily housekeeping if you want it, but you can also just live your life without someone constantly knocking on your door.   On arrival we checked in at Wrights Pub/Bar where our host Kevin upgraded us from an ensuite double with sofa bed to a 2 bedroom apartment which was appreciated. We found our apartment to be clean and comfortable with all amenities and enjoyed a good nights sleep. The location is on Oslo Fjord and a pleasant 10 minute walk from the centre and is handy for all transport links with the airport train a 20 minute journey time with a 10- 20 minute timetable. We did not know what to expect on our first trip to Oslo which was initially booked because of a cheap ticket offer from Easyjet but found the food to be of a high standard with restaurants and bars plentiful with beers etc just a little above UK city centre prices and a good meal with drinks plus wine costing around £35-£55 per head, watch the wine prices though. (We thought Egon in the city & Seaport Restaurant on the waterfront where we incredulous to see brave souls having a floating sauna followed by a dip in the Fjord as the temperature hit -14 degrees!!) There is plenty to see and do in Oslo and would return recommend without hesitation. If one wears appropriate clothing during winter months which for me included a T shirt, wool jumper and warm coat, good quality socks and waterproof boots and of course a hat plus gloves you will be more than warm enough. The apartments are hosted by Kevin who is a likeable and most obliging chap who kindly who opened up the apartment block at near midnight and allowed us to re-check in after our flight was cancelled, I would recommend Wrights Pub which is on site maybe hire his rather swish looking boat for cruise on the Fjord which he mentioned includes food and drinks.   The manager was amazing as was the property. Incredible view out to the fyord and easy walking distance to supermarkets, cafes, eateries and all the sights. We had two days and felt due to our location we got to see the best of Oslo. Sunrise and sets were incredible. Of course would love to explore in more depth and if we weee to we would stay in the same place.

  The location was a 20 minute walk from the train station, the staff was friendly and helpful, great location from which to explore Oslo, great views from the apartment, easy access to public transportation, grocery store nearby, restaurants within 5 minute walk, walking distance to museums.
